Under the goal of carbon neutrality, the energy storage trillion market is opening up, and technological innovation is also continuing to advance.
Since the relevant departments restricted the application of ternary batteries in the field of energy storage due to safety performance considerations, lithium iron phosphate has become the main force of battery energy storage. However, the pain points of low energy density ceiling, poor low temperature performance and high material cost of lithium iron phosphate remain unsolved.
On the one hand, large storage projects are often deployed in extreme climate areas, which require normal cycling performance in high and low temperature environments; On the other hand, it is estimated that the cost of wind photovoltaic energy storage batteries is less than 0.75 yuan / Wh to bring benefits. Under the condition of lithium carbonate of 550,000 / ton, the cost of the battery cell is 0.918 yuan / Wh, and the demand for cost reduction is outstanding.
Therefore, the energy storage field needs to find new batteries to meet future large-scale market applications.
On December 12-13, the 2022 Advanced Energy Storage Annual Conference was held in Shenzhen, with 50 speakers in 6 special sessions in 2 days, sharing the top ideological feast of the energy storage industry.
At the meeting, Li Kang, executive deputy general manager of Tongneng New Energy, delivered a keynote speech on "Application of New High-performance Lithium-sulfur Batteries in the Field of Energy Storage".
Li Kang mentioned that lithium batteries have been developing in the direction of higher energy density, longer cycle life and safer since their birth, but in the existing material scheme, ternary, iron lithium and lithium manganate capacity is about 140-180mAh/g, after all-pole ear cylindrical 4680 battery, blade battery, Kirin battery and other structural innovations, it is close to the ceiling in energy density, and the space for further improvement is limited.
